Other Science : What Would Be The Effects Of Multiple Moons On A Planet
You know how in some work of fiction, especially in fantasy and science fiction, we see worlds that have more then one moon? Then, of course, there are other, actual planets in our own universe that have multiple moons. Well, scientifically speaking, what would the effects of multiple moons be on a planet? Would the tides just rise higher, or whatever? Would night just be brighter? Or would there be other effects? I'm not necessarily talking about the Earth itself as we know it, by the way. I mean some fictional, or far-flung plant in our own universe, that naturally has more then one moon. ~~~ Kitajima ~~~

Other Science : Do You Have Any Hypothesis For Science Projects
I need one that is cheap but good. I am ion the sixth grade and in the advanced class. I need something appropiate for my age group and for my abilty. It needs to have a hypothesis. I dont need an experiment, like a volcano or alka-seltzer, water and a film canister. I need something like Which Diaper is more absorbant. Thanks alott! ~~~ K3ra B ~~~
Other Science : What Are The Laws Regarding Fahrenheit And Celsius Tempartures
So I know that if fahrenheit is 32 degrees, celsuis is 0 degrees, so you would conclude that there is a 32 degree difference between fahrenheit and celsius. But then if fahrenheit was 212 degrees, celsius would be 100 degrees and that's a 112 degree difference. So I want to know how to figure out the celsius temparture if you only have the fahrenheit temparture. i didn't exactly get that. so the celsius temparture is 5/9 of the fahrenheit temparture???? ~~~ piink318 ~~~

The coarse-adjustment knob is used only with which objective lens? Explain why. How can you tell which objective lens is in the viewing position? Why should you never allow an objective lens to touch the slide? This has to do with grade 8 science, in particular about microscopes. Please help, i dont understand. ~~~ Panos S ~~~
Other Science : What Are Some Ways To Get The Left Side Of My Brain Working
I have a big math test tomorrow, and I was wondering if there's anything I can do to wander over to the left side of my brain for this (the logic/mathematical side). I heard there are little things that can be done like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time, that uses both sides. I can try to elaborate if you don't understand what I'm talking about haha. I haven't been cramming, I've been studying this whole week.... That's why I take the time to try to find out what else I can do to improve. ~~~ ~Jenny ~~~

Other Science : How Do You Clean Up An Oil Spill
In science and technology class we have to clean up a mini oil spill that was poured on a bucket of water. Does anybody have any ideas what so ever as to how to clean it up? By the way, we are using corn oil, as if that helps. Anyways, any ideas? Also, the spill is not so huge and is in a kind of small bucket. Also (again...) we have to actually seperate the oil from water to get a good grade. ~~~ Alice ~~~

Other Science : Is There A Scientific Method For An Individual To Use To Make Good Personal Decisions
Recently, I made a bad decision, that seems to me, could have been event in my life, only cost me about $300 and 24 hours of hard work. It raised my awareness of the mostly casual way I now make personal decisions. One home repair last year cost me $5000. I made a decision to do it, off the top of my head ,without any real decision making method used. I still do not know if there was a better/less expensive way to do the job. A long time ago, I made a series of personal decisions, with the most care possible, at the time. Cost = $250,000. The minimum amount, possibly much more in future income and related family and health problems. Now, we see that even our government is capable of huge mistakes, costing billions of dollars, and human life. If the government can't make good decisions, how does one person? I mean in everyday life, without many resources, other than intelligence and willingness to try. I would like to have proven, scientific methods. Do they exist for us? ~~~ Dr No ~~~

Other Science : How Can I Create A Chemicalpowered Car For A Science Project
Here's the guidelines: To design and construct a car that is powered with a chemical energy source and will travel a minimum distance of 4 feet. Chemicals are vinegar and baking soda, which react to form sodium acetate and water and carbon dioxide. Maximum pressure allowed is 8 atm if using PV materials and thread fittings. If you use regular plastic, max pressure is 4 atm. Maximum volume of 80 mL of vinegar is permitted for each run. How should I go about doing this? ~~~ Rufus M ~~~
Other Science : What Would You Guess Will Be The Greatest Technological Achievements Of The 21st Century
My answer: probably things we cannot even conceive of right now. Who knows what leaps we might make? And from there we will see advancements beyond our present imagination. I would guess that in the future humans will live much, much longer. And another possibility is the concept of the "technological singularity". If you havn't checked this out just google it and read an article about it. It will blow your mind! What do you think we will see in the future? ~~~ The Gorn King ~~~

Other Science : What Do You Know About Vedic Mathematics
It is given in the Vedas which are now accepted to be 8000 years old. How do you multiply a four digit number by another four digit number? You will take the last digit of the second number and multiply the first number. Like that you have to do four times and add the results properly. In Vedic mathematics, you will get the answer in one step, even if it is a 100 digit number multiplying another 100 digit number. Can you imagine its implications for our modern times? Most of you may be knowing that the CPU of a computer consists of an ALU and NCP (numeric co-processor). If this NCP is redesigned using Vedic mathematics, a personal computer will work a lot better than a super computer. And a super computer will work like a mega computer. Have you heard the name Sakuntala Devi? Once she was given a very complicated problem. She gave the answer in a few seconds, but a main-frame computer took some minutes. So she was called the Human Computer. Visit these sites: /articlecomments/?CommentTitle=Human+Computer /thehindu/2002/04/17/stories/ What mathematics could she have used?
