I would like to get my pilots license but am hesitant since I have major ear problems when flying in commercial airplanes. Is it the same pain as flying in small single engine planes? ~~~ Derek C ~~~

I have that problem also, I always chew gum. That keeps my ears from popping.

My ears dont hurt in small planes and sometimes they feel weird in Airline planes.... I dont think your ears hurt as bad because you are flying slower and at a lower altitude.

if you dont go above 10000 ft you shouldn't have to pressurize the aircraft so there you won't have the ear problem. But in any case you will have some problems since its like going up and down a mountain. the change in pressure is the cause. good luck

My ears hurt in any type of plane because of the change in presure caused by the change in altitude it makes them pop i yell whenever it happens

If you are flying in a small single engine plane, you will not have any problem with this. Most likely you will not be in a pressurized cabin or flying above 10,000 feet.
