Best Answer To Australian Rules Question
Don't mark the ball above your head. This is because it gives the opposition to spoil alot easier. The ideal position is about 45 degrees between horizontal position and straight up. If you point your left arm straight up and point the right arm straight out infront of you. 45 degrees is half way between your left arm and right arm. In this position its alot harder to spoil from behind. Also soft hands. Too much tension in your hands makes it like cement so the ball will bounce off your hands. Soft hands but tense forearms otherwise the opponent will chop your arms .

Answer 1This may sound silly, but always use both hands. The biggest mistake players make is not supporting the ball with two hand, and they cannot hold a mark. If you use both hands, your grip on the ball will be stronger, and there is less chance of dropping the mark. Also, always keep your eyes on the ball, and try not to overrun the ball. Stay underneath the ball with your hand directly above your head. Hope I helped!
Answer 2I play too and there are a few tips I could give you. 1. get your hands webbed and ready to mark the ball. 2. This one is crucial, keep your eyes on the ball heaps of people drop it because they either drop their eyes and look down or close them at the moment of impact and they lose control of the ball, 3. During training practise taking them out in front above you instead of taking a easy chest mark. You might drop it but when you get good at it, its difficult for an opposition player to punch away. 4. Outside of training get someone to kick high balls that you run on too and take them with the correct techniques I have talked about. You could also just get a footy and throw it up in the air and just practise the correct hand position and eye's following the ball. Hope this helped.
Answer 3eyes stay on the ball, don't panic about what is coming at you. soft hands, if you tense up, you will snatch at it, watch it into your hands. wet days keep your hands closer together, so the ball doesn't go straight through your hands, flat palm the ball in some instances to allow the ball to drop into your arms, (on wet days) don't ever duck your head, hence the above ref to watching the ball into your hands. ( nice to see you used the correct term this time, aussie rules footy)
