I found that I could better protect my wrists and knuckles with the wrap, but I think that's just something you determine for yourself. I eventually worked out that all i needed was the wraps, and if I intended a heavier workout, I double wrapped.

Answer 1Wraps just cover barely your hands w. a thin layer of material, where gloves will cover and protect your hand more, there are various ounces of gloves from 4 ounces which UFC uses to I think 12 ounce gloves which traditional boxing uses, I might be wrong on weight on the boxing gloves tho. If I was to hit a bag myself, I would probably wear 4 ounce gloves, just to protect my hands but still have the speed and accuracy to hit the target where I wanted.
