Society in Australia has changed dramatically, with families splitting up all over the place. Sharing the commitments for the kids on 50/50 basis looks allright, but is not. What is "home" for the kids? Also their is a housing crisis in Australia. No wonder, now-a-days, two houses are needed for families with divorced parents in stead of one. I couple I know divorced; the man got another house on the same street, and due to the very good relationship between him and his ex-wife, there was no problem with the children or parenting. Another couple I know divorced; the woman moved away, and at every opportunity with the child did as much as she could to disparage and slander her ex-husband. There is not one-size fits all. The child must be taught to understand the situation and adjust. The same as when they have a new step-mom and step-dad.
