Answer 6a hippie to me defines an entire generation, with its own style, culture, and beliefs. to others the term "hippie" is used to lable that generations main belief, that we should protect earth with all of our being.

Answer 9While a "hippy" doesn't really have a negative meaning to me, I know that to my parents, you definately would defend yourself if someone called you a "; Environmental enthusiasts I know are more often referred to as "Tree-huggers," which, in my opinion, is not very offensive at all. Since I am only a teenager, I can't really tell you how I think the name has changed over time. However, I can tell you that the one "hardcore" environmentalist I know does not take offense at being labeled at all because she feels good about her values.

They are convinced on actuality of global warming and the world will end if we don't take drastic measures to stop the madness of use of petroleum products, etc.
Answer 13To me a hippy is based on outward appearance, not on what someone believes. If you have long, uncombed hair, don't wash, and are high all the time than you are a hippy. If you want to protect the environment and want biodiversity and you cut your hair, wash, and level-headed than you are a Liberal.
