Current Events : What Should We Do About The Myanmar Situation
If you haven't heard, the Myanmar (Myanmarian, Myanmarese?) government is now preventing any foreign aid workers from doing their relief work in the worst areas affected by the cyclone. So, if you were the PM right now, what would you do in this situation? I'd send the armed forces down there and force them to open up. ~~~ Quagmire ~~~
Best Answer To Current Events Question
The UN is trying to help, the US, France...the list goes on ! Myanmar is ruled by an army regime, they are called junta. They have refused planes loaded with relief supplies and meds because along with the supplies came search and rescue people and some media people, without permission. Their government is the problem ! They said they would take the supplies at one point, but the UN and others want to be allowed to go in the country and help hands on seeing to it that the neediest get the help right away, they want to help the orphaned, the sick so on an so forth. The junta rulers are controlling. I did not know how this part of the world was ran until this tragedy happened. It is so ,so sad. Not only have these people suffered such a traumatic experience, now they are basically being tortured to death, literally. They have lost whole families, their children their homes, everything and their government is denying them humanity. There really is no easy answer to this because this government doesn't even understand humanity. We HAVE to pray for these people.

Answer 6consulte with someone who knows about the region, an ambassador or diplomat and find out what the problem is and how we can resolve this issue. What ttypes of wrong thinking do you have that we can set you straight on?
Answer 7i understand your point and your heart. The military govt is getting fear over other countries. Now, i heard the news that they permitted UN for relief works. we can pray for their welfare. if i am a PM as you said, i will send a request only. i won't fish in the troubled waters. i will act politely, since our motivation is to distribute relief materials to the affected people. we should make a mess showing much interest and that will affect the people who are already suffering from nargis. sending troops will not yield good results and there will be war between two countries and i have to earn bad name from my own people for the hasty decision (if i am a PM)
Answer 8hands off.
Answer 9Mind our own business. Turn the problem over to the worthless and corrupt UN.
