about a year. i was taking about 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. don't let your dad get you down, just keep trying your hardest, it will pay off eventually. :) good luch!

Answer 2Try to get yourself away from that negative energy. It makes being successful really hard when someone is always putting you down. That or it makes you stronger; sometimes both. If you can, find another place to practice or ask for time in your studio around people who understand your passion, frustration, and commitment. You have to hang in there. Almost no one is a natural talent and even then they have to work. But do more than practice, live it. Dancing has to come from deep inside. When you find your goal and what it is you love about dance, your relationship with it becomes so much stronger. I know it sounds corny and lame, but its true. It takes longer than others sometimes, getting good at it, I mean. If you really put your mind to it, it can be done. Nothing happens over night, but it will happen. Good luck!
