Dogs : How Do You Report A Breeder That Is Selling Pups Before 8 Weeks Old
It really concerns me to see people posting questions on here about their new pup that is younger than 8 weeks old. What kind of breeder would sell a pup so young. I know there is a law against it, but who do you contact to report these things? Please don't give me answers like it BYB's or puppy mills. Just who can I contact? ~~~ Mom&Sweetie ~~~

If you know the breeder is selling registered puppies, you can contact the AKC as well. They have their own investigation team that is committed to the welfare of dogs. /about/depts/

Answer 1Your local shelter and/or dog law enforcement officer. These people can appropriately reprimand such irresponsibility!
Answer 2It really depends on your state laws and local by-laws. Some places its legal (sad, I know), and others it is illegal. Contact your local SPCA/Humane Society/Animal Control to see if this is something they can look into.
Answer 3you call your local SPCA and they will get the animal cruelty officers and they wil check out the situation!! good luck!!
Answer 4Police, SPACA (I think), RSPCA, humane society places like that i refused to pick up my pup until it was after 8 1/2 weeks!
Answer 5I am against selling puppies so young, but I have never heard of such a law here.
Answer 6i thought it was 6 weeks...well if u are seeing people on HERE, there is nothing you can do
Answer 7I got my puppy at 7 weeks old, we got her from the pound, and she is perfect!! But if they are posting it on here, I don't think there is anything you can do, unless you want to be a creepy stalker, and find out where they live, just to get the cops after them. You should just mind your own business, maybe where they live, the age limit for puppies isn't 8 weeks, or they don't have a law against it?
Answer 8I agree with a couple others, while I don't like people who sell or give away puppies younger than 8 wks, where I live there is no law against it. So it depends where they live, remember laws vary from city to city, county to county, and state to state, so sometimes there is nothing you can do.
Answer 9If you know the breeder is selling registered puppies, you can contact the AKC as well. They have their own investigation team that is committed to the welfare of dogs. /about/depts/
Answer 10It is not a national law - it's set by some states or counties. You'd need to contact animal control in that area and find out the proper law. Then, you would report them there. Also, as someone mentioned, if the dogs are registered, find out the rule of that registering agency and report them there as well. If the dogs are purebred, contact the national breed club for that breed - perhaps they can get involved.
Answer 11The laws vary by state and whether the seller is considered a dog dealer or not. Just because the pups leave the litter before 8wks does not mean it is illegal.
Answer 12Originally the USDA implemented laws years ago but eventually states started up with their own laws. These days the USDA does not permit transport of cats, dogs etc under 8 weeks of age. The link below will let you know if your state has a law regarding this. Note: not all states do and in some cases states that do have laws stipulate 6 weeks and some 7 weeks with others only noting once the animal is weaned with regards only to no longer nursing. Reputable breeders on the whole though will keep pups til 10 weeks for the final phase of weaning which is the dams imprint and socializing. /articles/ Check to see if your state is one that has a law.
