Best Answer To Dogs Question
I would add vitamin e, vitamin c, and salmon oil for starters. You can go to / and get all the supplements you would need, with dosages (they are made for dogs). This site also has some excellent articles and links with information regarding home cooked and natural diets. I would also get Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats ( you can get it at his website: ) It has an excellent home cooked diet you can follow.

Answer 1Well I buy for my dog Nutrigel a High energy vitamin concentrate, from my local vet. It has all the vitamins dogs need. Hope I helped.
Answer 2You could try adding fish oil...though im not sure of how much. That is good for their skin. You should try looking up recipes of home cooked kibbles. Your dog also needs some veggies in there. Try steaming a few and add them to your dogs food. My own dogs love steamed veggies.
Answer 3Why don't you just gave it dog food, there are stable vitamins which is needed. I fed my dog with dog food and canned meat. Sometimes I fed her boiled eggs and carrot too~ It's a better way to go to a vet and ask for solution. They'll suggest the food for you lovely dog.
Answer 4fish oil, raw meaty bones, such as chicken necks, or wings, and a little organ meat.
Answer 5Raw meat is MUCH better than cooked. Try researching the BARF (Bones and Raw Foods) diet, it will give you an idea of where to go with this. Just cooked meat and white rice is not going to give your dog all of the nutrition he needs.
Answer 6I make for my 2 year old maltese..... Boiled chicken thigh 1" section of carrot, grated 1/4 cup frozen green beens, broken up 1/4 cup cooked brewers rice 1 pinch shredded cheese 1 diced cherry tomato It is important that they also get a multi vitamin. I hide a small one in a 1/2 inch piece of Pupperoni, so she swallows it without chewing. The oil from the chicken is usually enough for her skin, but maltese skin is more like people skin. You may need to add some fish oil to the food. I had a friend that fed his dog the cooked skins from his fish, and that was the shiniest dog I ever saw! (Retriever) I won't go more than 1/4 teaspoon of oil, or dog may get the runs....eewww!! The above makes enough for 2 meals, but maltese is finiky and doesn't eat very much. Good Luck!

Answer 8milk should be added to the food for the dog
Answer 9For dry and flaky skin and hair, once the food is cooked and cooled, grate in some raw apple and carrot. Add to his daily feed, 1 fish oil capsule with omega 3 added, but not fish liver oil, just fish oil. For a small dog, you can get capsules with a lower mg content than some others, but 1 per day is alright, my dobe has 3 1000mg capsules a day. Also get some zinc and vit c tablets too, again, buy the lower mg tablets. Both of these are available from pharmacies and chemist shops. Just compare the lables to get the lower mg ones for your smaller dog. Also try grating in some other vegetables when you are cooking his food, such as broccoli stem, cauliflower stem, zucchini, sweet potato and pumpkin. Basically, the more color you add to his food in veges, the more vitamins and minerals he will get. Raw carrot and apple is great for the skin, my dietician recommended it for my scabby doberman with really bad skin. Try also mixing a bit of oatmeal into his food, you know, the instant breakfast stuff, its good on the outside for skin as well as on the inside.
Answer 10If you are only feeding lean meat and rice, then the diet is too low in fat, hence the dry skin. Add some fish oil or olive oil and that should clear it up. It also isn't a bad idea to add a multi vitamin in the diet to ensure that they are getting everything they need. Vitamins are sold at any pet supply store and come in powder or treat form.
Answer 11Usually a fatty acid supplement will help tremendously. Try a product called 3V caps. If this does not work take your dog to the vet. He may have and allergy and need to be treated with medication. Dogs typically do not get runny eyes and noses like people do. Their skin becomes itchy. Also where to you live? Is it cold. If you have your heat on the humidity in the house could be low. This could dry your pet's skin out. I have this problem myself in the winter. A good humidifier will solve that problem.
Answer 12You should look into Raw feeding. Not only will it save you time, but your dog would not need any supplements. Right now the dog is not getting many nutrients that he needs. He should be fed raw meaty bones like chicken legs quarters or backs, pork necks, turkey necks, fish, egg (crushed shell included) a small amount of organ meat each week. He doesn't need rice and doesn't benefit from it much. Go to the store and buy some chicken backs, liver, canned salmon, and feed him some bone. It has a ton of nutrients in it. /myths/
