Weddings : What Can You Tell Me About Outdoor Wedding Logistics
My htb (tee hee, htb) and I are having our wedding ceremony at an outdoor waterfront location. We know we will need to hire chairs but what else would you recommend? Should we have microphones so people can hear? What about music? It will be a little bit windy but hopefully only a light breeze. What things do we need to take into account? Answer 2Usually outdoor weddings are smaller... so hearing shouldnt be a huge problem. Also, if it is windy, you wont want the microphone to catch the wind so all the guests hear that blowing sound. Typically, outdoor weddings are just like any others... of course like you said, you'll need to get chairs... but do the music and all just like you would anywhere else. For floral decorations, you may want to rent potted plants or palm trees... bows could be put on the end chairs that line the aisle. If the reception is at the same place, I would recommend a tent of some sort to put the food and cake under along with some tables and chairs... Good luck and congrats!

Answer 5Think about shade for sure. If it is going to be very sunny and warm, you need to provide some shade for your guests to be seated under. You can get a nice structure, not a full marquee or anything that is still outdoors, just has a roof to block the sun. Maybe some flowers would be nice of you can afford it. Microphones are good and defiantly music. If you want to go all out, you can hire a red carpet too.
Answer 6I would use a microphone if possible. Often voices don't carry as well outside and it may be harder to hear. Especially if you can't control the noises going on around you. You'll need some type of structure to designate the "alter" area (like an arch, etc.) Shade would be nice, but not possible in all cases. Try to be considerate of making sure guests aren't too hot/cold (think evening if it is mid-summer; day time in spring or fall). Make sure that you do plan for windy conditions. Waterfronts can get breezy enough to wreck havoc with your decorations, etc. Make sure you have plan for securing things. If it is a location where there might be bugs, you may want to use citronella torches. You'll need a place to be until the ceremony. I would absolutely have music. What type is up to you and your wedding style. Consider the ground cover when choosing dresses and shoes. High heels will sink into grass and sand making walking for you and your attendants very difficult. ++++ AND HAVE A PLAN B ++++ Good Luck

I agree with the others who have posted. ~ Unless you live where it's going to be absolutely beautiful guaranteed....have a "plan B" - an indoor location on standby. ~ Yes, get chairs for your guests. ~ Possibly have a tent covering? Your choice. If it's going to be a short ceremony, this would not be needed. ~ A nice touch is when there is an "aisle" made of rose petals. ~ I WOULD NOT get an aisle runner especially if it would need to be put down on grass. Because of the grass and uneven ground, the bridesmaids and brides sometimes get their heels caught in them -- not good! ~ Most definitely have music. ~ Another thing I read about outdoor weddings.....DON'T HAVE A VEIL. Even if there is a slight breeze, it could be blowing in you face the whole time. Best just to have a tiara or some flowers in your hair or nothing! Good luck! Sounds nice!
