NaOH would work like KOH but would cost less to purchase.

Answer 1to seperate CO2 use KOH. it eill form K2CO3 which is sol. in water.

Answer 3I don't know the concentration of CO2 in syn gas but I am sure the processes that work for natural gas will work on syn gas. I assume you want a process that permits the reuse of the solvent such as an amine solution would be in the case of natural gas. If you do a web search for natural gas treating you will find many sites including companies like Dow Chemical that are involved in this type of process.
