Etiquette. How Much Should You Spend On A Wedding Present.

I am attending my co-workers wedding and am unsure how much I should spend on the wedding present. ~~~ shygirl_2117 ~~~

Best Answer To Etiquette Question

It depends on how well you know them. For a co-worker you don't know very well or outside of work, I would say $25-$50. For close friends, I've been known to spend $150-$300. $500+ for family members. That doesn't mean you have to be the same way. Your wedding present should be based on how well you know the person+ how much you can afford. Remember, you can be tasteful and not spend an arm and a leg too.

Answer 8

I guess it depends on how close you are with that co-worker. Is he/she your close friend? or a person you hardly know?

Answer 9

The very minimum is the cost of the dinner plus whatever else you want to spend. However if money is tight , you can always give them a gift up until their first wedding anniversary.

Answer 10

Depends on your closeness and the gift. I can buy a wedding gift between $20 and $100. Usually $40-$50.

Answer 11

No more than you can afford@

Answer 12

$50 in a card or spent on a present is perfect for a co-worker.

Answer 13

That depends on how many 10% off "Shake Bake" coupons you have.

Answer 14

what you can afford to comfortably spend. I am not in a position to spend a ton of money on people, so I make sure it is a nice gift, but I may only spend $25 or less on it. For my best friend's wedding I went in on a group gift and spent $40, but that was because 5 of us were going in on it. Just make it meaningful and nicely presented. If they are registered, go through the registry and find a couple of the least expensive items and buy them 2 or 3 depending on the price, then package them very nicely.

Answer 15

$50 if not a close friend. $100 if a close friend,

Answer 16

$20 to $50 is good enough.
