ask the local schools to take part in a walk/cycle to school for a week the fund wills go towards local green encouraging the school to give safty on the road bike lessons for children will bikes to ride to school for those who can not affored to buy bikes,some schools do this abroad..The best thing you can do is get schools engged in teaching children to do the right could also ask the local community groups about lottery funding in your area thay can apply for funding in your area and you could get cycle pathes put in .Where we lived we got one to open a community ideas are good but can take a long time to implement as local councils can be so so very slow at taking up new ideas. Start a walking club where a rout to school is put in place and those who normaly take the car could join others walking along the could be supervised by other parents that would normaly walk. It is all down to communication at the end of the day,the more people involved the better realy. a ride share is good see so many cars with spare seats in. get people to fill there cars with others that would normaly driveit means less cars on the road. Encourage people to walk two days out of five or just drive if it rains. theres lots of ways,its just getting people to do i live across the road from a primary school have three children of my own,some people are so lazy they drive their children to school and they live 1 street realy sad considering the state of the world lol and the size of their childrens waste lines bless.. good luck in you fun

Answer 2Such forms of travel are fine if you wish to limit your world to an area of about 10 square miles. Not a lot of interest in that. The other consideration is time. Not everyone drives to the store instead of walking because they are lazy. Many simply cannot afford to waste a half hour doing what can be done in five minutes with a car. Weather is another consideration. I also take issue with how quick it really is to ride a bike. Sure, now that most people are not, you can zip in and around traffic but if everyone was, it would take forever to get masses of bike riders to where they need to go since they would all be in each other's way. Hills are another problem for bikes. Also, everyone would arrive tired and sweaty. No argument that you may be able to get around Manhattan at rush hour quicker than a car but I defy anyone to travel the Twenty Five miles I have to commute each way quicker than my car does it which is 35 minutes on the Parkway and local streets. *
Answer 3"Sustainable travel"??? I love how labels now mean nothing at best, the opposite in extreme cases! You won't "travel" far, or for very long by foot or bike. Just get the Mormons to add another brochure to their missionary work...that should do it.
