Hobbies Crafts : Can You Use Unused Stamps From A Stamp Collection To Post Items
I have a large collection of uncirculated stamps which appear to have very little value even though the stamps are up to $ each. Can I use them to post items instead of trying to sell them. My apologies to any serious philatelists out there! ~~~ girl from oz ~~~

Yes, in the recent elections, some one posted their absentee ballot with an "upside down" Air Mail stamp, probably worth $500,000, and, now that it has been canceled, half that? Anyway, the ballot is invalid, because they did not use the official envelope, did not put a return address on the envelope!!! That County will get the money, (What a FREE Bonus!) but, election laws mandate that it be sealed up in storage for two more years! My advice is that individually, those stamps might not be worth much, but, a whole lot of collections go for $30,000 or more, at estate sales, simply because they are COLLECTIONS! When you have several series of prime, unused, stamps, (or coins!), even though the face value might be one cent, like that misprinted Air Mail Stamp, (in only one sheet of 100! ), it suddenly leaps to be more valuable, for all the time and effort invested. Stupid to break up a collection, when it is worth hundreds or thousands to a Philatelist!

Answer 1Yes. As long as the face value of the stamp is the current value of the appropriate postage cost.
Answer 2Well, if it isn't against the law, well, yeah. And what do you mean by using stamps for posting items?
Answer 3if they are unused use them
Answer 4yes but be aware that by using them their value depriciates
Answer 5Yes
Answer 6I can't see why not, so long as the sum total value of the stamps used met the minimum postage cost. I had a quick look at the australia post website, but couldnt find any details on this.

Answer 8Yes you can use you must know thhat you can't use foreign postage in your own can't use Japanese stamps to mail in the .I ran into that last year when I was selling some of were to common-so I still have 've obviously checked the value;so look on ebay'inthe paper or check for a stamp club in your area-sometimes you can get business of having .oo worth of stamps seldom happens to a regular collector;but check what you own carefully before you sell.
Answer 9How old your stamps? Are you sure that some of them are not valuable as a rare collection items. For example, modern stamp that has an error (misprint, color, perforation) could be valuable and worth much more than value printed on the stamp.
