Home Schooling : When People Say They Homeschool Their Preschoolers Do They Have A Curriculum
I am looking into homeschooling as an option for our 2 young children (not yet school aged). There seems to be a lot of people out there who are homeschooling their preschoolers? Do these parents have a curriculum... I am not quite sure how homeschooling works with preschoolers. ~~~ banks ~~~

Good Lord I hope not. Preschoolers need time to grow and learn through play. Count rocks, write on a chalkboard (for fun) label things with posty notes. learn about community workers, sing songs of ABCs, skip counting, days of the week, months of the year, read books to them, etc. They don't need paper/pencil workbooks nor do they need phonics charts. It's almost sinful to try to force little kids to turn into scholars at preschool level. It's bad for their eyes and their brain development. People who are obsessed with preschoolers learning fast should read Moore's book, Better Late Than Early.

Answer 2I know in Canada you don't need to send you children to jr or sr kindergaten. Go to Costco. they have quite a few get ready for kindergaten books. My 3 year old loves to do "school work" I stay home with her so she doesn't learn things from a daycare. Good Luck

Answer 4There really is no need for a curriculum at that age. The best way to teach them is just to expose them to different things that will peak their interests and talk to them about it. Reading to kids is a great way to start, it helps them gain a bigger vocabulary and by using pictures helpes them connect the words they here with a specific image. Teaching the alphabet (saying it not writing) and counting are good. Homeschooling is very reqwrdin, just don't try to force the learning or you and the child will get frustrated. kids learn at different paces and homeschooling allows you to make sure your kid can go at their own pace. One of my kids was reading at four, while the other is just starting at five. You can find a curriculum at the site below though if you want to use one. You can probably google some online ideas and projects for preschool homeschooling for free as well to give you ideas.

Answer 6You can definitely buy or design a preschool curriculum for your children. You'll want to find out from your local government if and what you need for homeschooling requirements. The way I started was to get our state homeschooling curriculum (free! great price) and then the next year I bought a curriculum that I thought fit my daughter's learning style better. Now I buy a math curriculum and design my own for everything else from catalogs, mostly, and attend lots, lots, lots of homeschooling events and classes. Great starting places are homeschooling magazines, websites, and local groups. There are so many styles of homeschooling, you'll find the one that fits your family best.

You know, I say "I homeschool my ; Before my seven year old was of school age, I did not refer to her as homeschooled. Answer 9Legally my 4 year old daughter doesn't count as Home Educated (what you call Home Schooled) because she's not of Compulsory School Age but we go to local groups and do lapbooks and she's learning to write her letters, and basically doing a lot of stuff that children 2 years older would be doing at school. We have no curriculum and take a child centred approach and I intend to continue that way becoming more autonomous as she gets older. So, I feel very much like we're already home educating, but I tend to add "but not technically" at the end.
