Answer 1To be honest, your best bet is just buying a speaker test DVD and hooking up your reciever to random cables. . if you press to hear audio from your left front and you hear it from your right back you should switch those cables on your reciever/amp.
Answer 29 Volt battery is my special tool. Dont worry it wont hurt your speakers at all. hold the negative onto the black wire and the positive on the red wire and lift on and off with the red wire. This will make a popping noise on your speakers then have someone else see which speaker it is. This is how i test all the speakers i install.
Answer 3OK 1st off I think he is saying that the wires were run into the room in the ceiling, and in the ceiling the are no covers noting where the wires are placed. 2. yes there is it is called a toner and probe set. more money than you want to spend if your gonna use it one time, see if you could borrow one from somebody that may be in the field, or call some home theater store and see if they can come out and find the wires for you( for a fee, I would imagine) OR you could get up in your attic above where your speaker wires are supposed to be run and fine them manually, that is if you can fit up there. 3. That is a crappy builder. 4. HOPE any of this helps
Answer 4Hi. Your builder sucks If Your Audio was done the right way all speaker wiring and cables should be marked. If the speakers are in place the easiest way (hope u have Volume controls) to detect any speaker with out a toner is ( a toner sends a signal to speaker ) Use a D cell battery put the positive Red on the + side of the battery and the Black on the negative side - of the battery u should head a scratchy popping sound from that speaker. this will save ya a hundred bucks . and the battery wont blow your speaker not enough power in a D cell . PS have a second person with you so they can tell you where the location is and mark accordingly
