Insurance Registration : I Have A Non Running Car That I Have Not Been Able To Register In My Current State How To Sell It Legally
It's really a mess. The title is clear and in my name, but from another state. However, I lost the title in a flood this year, although I still have the title number and receipt. The car stopped running and has just been sitting since shortly after our move, since I haven't been able to take it in to get registered or afford to fix it. I have a private person who is interested in taking it off of my hands but I am completely confused as to how to do this legally. ~~~ Questa ~~~

you are the leagal owner of the car, although you cannot prove this with a bill of sale, you can sell the car to your friend and give him/her a bill of sale. they will then have proof of ownership. they will not have a problem registering the car unless it has a lean on it or it has been reported stolen. as long as the person in posesion of the car has proof of ownership (aka bill of sale) all is well don't worry yourself. all is well.
