For a great meal you can head over to EL Botin. The food is great! Try the artichoke hearts, the best I've ever had! It's on one of the exits of the Plaza Mayor on Cuchilleros. Your closest metro stop is SOL. Also in Plaza Mayor is El Meson de la guitara. Great tapas and sangria.
