Answer 1Without opening the window - which I'm guessing you probably don't because it's freezing, the only thing that I have found that works is investing in a dehumidifer. They're probably around about £80 for a decent one but it's a great investement and it prevents mould and damp.
Answer 2leave the window open, or leave the heating on very high. or install double glazing, the water will form on the outer pane.
Answer 3dehumidifier or try airing your room out by opening the window everyday etc...... seals on the window coulda gone?
Answer 4you can buy special absorbant crystals from the diy shops that absorb the moisture, alternatively leave a window slightly open, condensation on windows is caused by warm air meeting the cold air from outside. Also you could buy a dehumidifier, this is more costly though, also make sure that you dont dry clothes on radiators, and in doors, i know this time of year this is difficult. hope this helps
Answer 5bowl of uncooked rice on the window sill
Answer 6A last resort is a dehumidifier - they are about £70 in Argos iirc. They take the excess moisture out the air but can make the air feel "dry" - i'd be interested to hear other ideas. Too much moisture ends up causing mold which is a nightmare. Someone told me air flow is important - so have all the doors open in the rooms. Its very hard when the weather starts to get cold. I always found that cleaning the insides with window cleaner and kitchen towel helped a bit the night before.
Answer 7if you have gas heating DO NOT turn it up - the burning of the gas gives off moisture into the air and only makes your problem worse, and will create an environment that is unhealthy. Solid fuel heating is always good for drying out the atmosphere and is therfore a healthy kind of heat - if this is not possible the only option is to use a dehumidifier (keep your window closed while its in use)
Answer 8i would use salt in a bowl or rice these is a cheap option
Answer 9you might try a DE humidifier or leave the window open .
Answer 10Assuming the inside windows are spotlessly clean, cut a fresh potato in half and rub gently over each window pane every couple of days. For the damp sill, put some old clothes down to soak it up and change 'em for dry ones each morning.
Answer 11Put a shade up over the window and close the shade at night. It creates a barrier between the room and the window, traps the cold air and as a result condensation won't build up.
Answer 12open the window or dehumidfy
Answer 13Hi ! I live in Northern Spain and believe it or not we have this problem at this time of year. Around here they sell large tablets that fit into a plastic bowl and the condensation is trapped in the bowl, very effective. When we were in the UK we used silica gel chrystals which you can buy from most garden centres. Hope this helps.
Answer 14Years ago we had the same problem. My father drilled small holes, the exact size of a straw, at the bottom of the windows just below the level of the glass. He then pushed straws through the holes, trimming the ends so as they could not be seen. These acted as ventilation, and the problem never came back. Bear in mind our windows were timber sash windows, but if you have the same ones, I promise you it works!
