I often wonder how long it would take, as i think I was told some time ago that it was in the area of 10 years before it fully broke down, but I wanted to know if there has been any scientific evidence of this?
Would be good if they also advertised on the packs the correct disposal of cigarettes too :)

The tobacco goes fairly quickly (depending on soil conditions), the paper takes a bit longer, but a filter can take forever.

The actual tobacco part of the cigarette not long at all, it's the filters that are resistance to breaking down. I honestly do not know how long they take to break down.
