Best Answer To Medicine Question

Never take more the prescribed amount of Tylenol. It will ruin your liver. No liver, no life. So be responsible if you're going to use their products. The problem of people OD'ing on Tylenol has gotten so bad they actually made a commercial or two begging people to follow the label directions. It's only safe if used correctly. Ibuprofen would be better. It has anti-inflammatory characteristics. Make sure you don't use aspirin. It could lead to bleeding internally. EDIT: Excedrin has Aspirin. Avoid it, too.

honestly, the best medication for pain after surgery is Tylenol! I just had surgery last month to remove my gall bladder and was sent home with Darvocet (very strong painkillers) and though it worked I found I was sleepy all the time. Tylenol worked just as well. Extra Strength Tylenol and you may need to take 3 at a time.

Answer 2

Tylenol is not your best bet because its not really asprin. I would recomend extra strenght excidren.

I agree with Serena! Tylenol -- blocks pain and lower fevers Ibuprofen - blocks pain, lowers fevers and is an ANTI-INFLMMATORY which causes most of the pain in surgery or trauma accidents -- so it works better than tylenol. Asprin/ASA - It only has the anti-pain and anti-inflammatory effects at much higher doses that the baby-asprin taken to stop you platelets from working. Both ibuprofen and ASA are hard on your stomach lining, but ASA is worse. You can take up to 800mg of Ibuprofen three times a day, but data shows that there is almost no pain help after 600mg three times a day and all you really get is a greater upset stomach. If you need more meds after a surgery, the doc will typically have no problem giving you them. Some patients just need more for a longer period of time -- we all know that -- but of course we always want to decrease the risk for patients to become dependant on them -- which is actually very rare to occur after a fairly simple surgery. Oh, and if you really are a beauty addict, your doc may have more hesitation for you to get too many meds since you will have a greater chance of possibly using them in appropriately -- NOT because YOU will, it's just what the data shows.

Answer 5

Arthritis strength Tylenol 650 mg. It helped a severe toothache. I read the back of bottles and 650 mg. was the highest I found.

Answer 6

I am not sure if they have this in Australia, but in England, they have paracetemol+ coedeine. This works really well. I have taken it fater an operation. The hospital gave me a stronger version (Panadeine Forte), then i bought a weaker versoin at the chemist. PANADEINE is one of the most powerful pain relievers available without prescription because of the combination of two pain relieving ingredients Good Luck!

Answer 7

The tylenol is good and so is aleve. But don't forget to use a cold pack or ice bag on the site, too. It sure helped me with the pain and inflammation. My mattress was too soft, so I padded up a towel under my side to help support. Try not to worry too much, though, most of the discomfort comes from the suture line, and it heals up pretty fast.
