#1 have an intense desire and ability to study sciences (microbiology, chemistry, biology)...(big hint...start studying these in high school or earlier) and MATH! (esp. fractions, algebra, metric system...it is used a lot in hospitals). #2 strong stomach...imagine studying the muscles of a HUMAN cadaver...and this is only for nursing!...(looks like old dark chicken meat! yech!) #3 ability to work non-stop for 3 days...residency---the residency shifts (after medical school, but befor becoming a dr) can be LONG hours...72 even (3 days) that means on call...sleep when you can...eat when you can...work... honey...if you can do these three...and make good grades..and afford it....GO FOR IT!!.

Answer 2in addition to what pheonix said, you have to like working with people, you cant just want to treat the illness but the person as a whole
Answer 3In addition to what the other people have said, I am on the same path myself, and I would strongly advise you to NOT associate with other pre-meds. As a whole, pre-meds seem to be some of the most pompous, arrogant, narcissistic, /stupid/ people I have ever come across. You will find far more happiness pursuing this without trying to mingle with people who are going for the same thing. Hang around the science or music majors instead, they don't love themselves and they usually are very easygoing.
