hey, the above poster was right in that hard tissue injuries are injuries to the bone and anything else is a soft tissue injury. However a dislocated shoulder is a SOFT tissue injury. Hard tissue injuries result in fractures or break in the bone. Dislocations are caused when the ligaments that hold bone and bone together are damaged. In this case the head of the upper arm bone has slid out of the socket, meaning the ligaments didn't do their job (can happen to little kids whose ligaments aren't as tough as an adults') OR the force that popped the bone out of the socket was so strong that it damaged the ligaments at the same time.
