as a single parent your only option IS the Reserves.. but here's the thing: you cannot have your child with you during Boot Camp or school or any subsequent training.. so thats several months right there. you will also deploy.. and that means the child must be left behind in the care of another. you CANNOT get out of duty or deployments because you are a single parent.

Answer 1you're gonna have to leave your child when you go to school or whatever training they have...plus if like other reserve units you're gonna have to be gone so many days each month training...
Answer 2If your a single mother, the answer is no! When you enlist in the Army, you have to leave your child(ren) with someone you trust for the first year of your enlistment. I'm not sure about the other services but I imagine they would be the same.
Answer 3If you join, you will have to sign a form assigning someone as a legal guardian in your absence. You wil have to be away from your child for basic training, school, drills etc. In todays world, your chances of being activated and deployed are high. If you don't think the Coast Guard deploys, you are sadly mistaken.
