Movies : What Is The Difference Between A Satire And A Parody
Me and my friend are doing a parody on "The Ring" (or at least we think we are) but our teacher wants us to find the difference between the satire and a parody. I've searched for a long time and i couldn't find anything. I am going to post the video on youtube so you guys can see it. If it all works out, it will be really funny. Its quite a subtle difference (and I wouldn't trust what I say here absolutely) Both make fun of something, but a parody is more focused than a satire. A parody focuses on a certain genre (Action, romance, spy), usually exaggerating the similarities between movies or books (or whatever) which fall into that genre. Satire targets larger concepts. It usually exaggerates their aspects to prove how ridiculous they are (even though enough exaggeration will make anything look ridiculous)

Answer 2I think the difference is that a parody is outright funny as it mocks you by making you look stupid. As satire is much more subtle. it's funny but in a serious way. Its a serious approach to something that ultimately makes it funny.
