Best Answer To Other Business Finance Question
Usually if the item is still in good shape it can be re-sold or at a discount, if not, it is written off and removed from inventory. The retailer does lose some money but can write off the item as a loss. This does make prices go up and most retailers sell their merchandise at a markup to cover for these losses, so the customers are paying for it.
