Other Education : How Do You Cope With Very Unsupportive Managers Who Are Incapable Of Understanding The Work You Do
The service I work for has been eroded over two years. The work we do is rarely acknowledged, there's no consultation about decisions made by management, morale is very low amongst staff and feelings of demoralisation and disgust are running high. The line manager has no experience in the line of work we do and has no idea of what is involved, yet can make deleterious decisions and damaging assumptions. My problem is internalised anger as there seems no redress to what's happening. In spite of all of this, the work on the ground is very rewarding, working with adults who do appreciate the support they are getting. My concerns lie with management for whom I have no respect. ~~~ galluslass ~~~

As someone who is in Grad School for Industrial Psychology, I think it is important that your managers get an accurate picture of all that you do. Doing so will make your managers understand all of the resources that you must employ in the performance of your job. Maybe you could keep a time journal of the task you are undertaking and what completing of the task requires for you to do. In addition, I think it is important for you to remember and remind yourself how rewarding your job is and concentrate on the amount of psychological growth your job is affording you by helping out others. Jobs are divided into two portions; remuneration to meet life expenses and part of the enjoyment we get for contributing to the rotation of the world. It is frustrating that your manager has no idea about what is going on in your position and research tells us that unless you get a redress or resolution of your concerns you will attempt to seek work elsewhere. If the manager is unresponsive, it is your responsiblity to take it to the next level...especially when we consider the havoc this stress is doing to your body (cardiovascular system harm and neurotransmitters). I hope this helps.

Answer 1this is history repeating its self, this has gone on in alot of workplaces, i used to work for electrolux and they would bring in a new manager who did not know his --s from a hole in the ground and scrap costs would grow out of sight because of the decisions that the new guy made and the workforce get the blame, remember this ,, **it rolls downhill, there probly is nothing u can do about it unless you know someone from corporate, i wish you the best
Answer 2You get your reward every two weeks... It is called a pay check! If you are not being paid for the work you do then you have a case. If your pay matched the hours you worked. It is none of your business what "management" does. Why do employees always think they have the right to decide how things are done? If you were qualified to make these decisions you would be the manager. Obviously the person over the manager thinks the person they put there is capable. If they are truly doing a horrible job, it will reflect on them when the time comes. You shoe up and give them an honest days work and the rest will work it's self out. Bottom line you can always go work somewhere else.
