Other Mexico : Can We Rent Carseats For Our Kids In Mexico
We will be travelling in Sept with another family to Mazatlan and are trying to figure out what to do about child carseats. We have 3 year old twins and a 6 month old and the other family has a 2 year old and a 5 month old. Yes, we are crazy. Anyway, we want them to be in carseats when travelling around, but dont really want to have to take our own along...does anyone have any experience with this? Do you think we could rent a big van and rent 5 carseats? Is the only other option bringing our own or having them ride without safety seats? Thanks in advance! ~~~ llamamama ~~~

Goodadvice about the taxis. YOU WILL not FIND CAR SEATS TO RENT IN MEXICO!! You need to bring yours. And I do think you would be wise to consider leaving the kids at home with their grandparents so you can enjoy your vacation. Bting the kids when they are over 4 or 5.

Don't take street cabs in Mexico City if you are unfamiliar with the capital and/or don't speak much Spanish: if you are visiting the city, instead get your hotel to phone a cab co-operative (see below) or use a taxi rank cab. If you decide to take a street cab in Mexico City, it is advisable to opt only for the new style white cabs (all with 4 doors) that have a bright red stripe around them. If you are carrying any valuable equipment (. laptop or expensive cameras) it's best to get a cab from a taxi rank or get your hotel to phone a local taxi co-operative. Dress and act sensibly, following the general Safety Guidelines as set out on the Health and Safety pages. If you are not familiar with Mexico City and the place you are going, and/or if you don't speak some Spanish, then do yourself a favor and call to arrange a taxi via the hotel where you're staying or phone a taxi firm/co-operative. They cost more, but are still good value in comparison to a similar distance taxi fare in New York, London or Paris for example. Answer 2You don't need carseats in Mexico. You can rent a van. In Mexico you can go in cars with your children without a carseat. The cops wont say anything. You can also go in the back of a truck. If you don't take your carseats hold your small one.
