Poetry : How Do I Copyright My Poems And Artwork
I have so many poems that I most likely could make it into a small novel, but have no idea how much it costs to copyright them or how to go about it. I also have photography art I would like to display and one day make a little extra cash of them, how do I do this? Please and Thank you. ~~~ Spazz ~~~
Best Answer To Poetry Question
Look up the Library of Congress, Office of Copyright in search...There should be a form you can down load or print out....fill it out naming the WHOLE piece of work, whether one poem or fifty poems, it needs a name...my lyrics are titled (my name)'s 4th child, my next filing will be (my name)'s 5th child, etc... art will go under a different category as poems, I THINK, read the forms and follow the directions...BE SURE TO INCLUDE A CD OF ALL ART WORK, AND A CD OF POEMS IN MS WORD FORM...this will actually be looked at, authenticated against your application, and filed....EACH FILING, NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF WORK IN IT (again one or fifty) COSTS $35...IF it has changed since I filed, it should tell you, AND it is best to send it RECEIPT REQUESTED. I BELIEVE you can post and sell artwork after sending in the copyright forms, your postal receipt is your proof, until you receive the actual copyright, and after you get that postal receipt, you can then use the sign (c) . Good Luck, and congrats!

Answer 2I have a few manuscripts of unpublished poetry copyrighted. It's really not that difficult. I put a link below that will take you to the forms you need. I belive I paid $15-20 per manuscript. The costs might have gone up--but I doubt much. Also, I've heard that you can mail your manuscript to yourself in a registered letter and leave it unopened. I hope that helps.

As a Real Estate Professional, ask yourself this question . . . what do you like best about your career . . . is it:
The "roller coaster" income cycles?
