Answer 3There are no guidelines on asking nor answering. All you can do is put it out there and hope something meaningful comes back. There are no guarantees.
Answer 4It's difficult and depends what sort of answers the asker wants. Responses along the lines of thats nice are likely to that question. As someone answering I would hate to hurt someones feelings, to some poems can be like children when you are offended by criticism or suggestions, but often the more I like a poem the more sugestions I'll make, wanting to see it come to full bloom as it were. I'd prefer prople to ask for honest feedback and give detailed suggestions if they want their poem to grow.
Answer 5"Do you like my poem?" will probably get you the best poetry answers. "Do you like this...?" might get you some answers from people who know nothing about poetry. I fall into the second category.
Answer 6I've always found that asking for honest critique of my work gets good results. You'll be surprised at what you can learn here. Accept the critiques and see if it helps you. A great way to see your work from anothers perspective.
Answer 7I don't know about the yahoo guidelines, but what I would do is say, right in the intro line, something like "I am looking for some constructive criticism of this ; Be prepared, because this is yahoo, so you're going to get some responses from yahoos, but people who are serious will respect the serious nature of your request. When I was taking creative writing classes what we would do is say "I liked (fill in the blank) about this poem. I was wondering about (fill in the blank) and I thought (fill in the blank) about it. Never a question "do you like it or not like it?" we always did a kind of deconstruction talking about parts, and how we thought they worked together. If you ask someone do they like it you are asking a yes or no question that really cuts down on the information you can get back from your critique buddy. If you ask a more open ended question you will get better information.
