Want Messenger to start and run in background. Do not want the messenger window to open automatically at computer start up. Want computer to boot to desktop without Messenger window comming up. ~~~ pet?????? ~~~

I think you need a combination of settings to do this. 1. Messenger gt; Preferences gt; General gt; check Automatically Start. 2. also check Standby; un-check Yahoo Insider; check Remove Taskbar button. 3. Now try rebooting. If It's not quite right yet, uncheck #1 above and: a) put a shortcut to Yahoo IM in your Programs gt; Startup group. b) change the property settings of the shortcut (right-click on it gt; click the Shortcut tab gt; set the value of RUN to Minimized. Now try again. If this doesn't do it, don't know what else to try, except clicking the minimize button.
