Let the restaurant know your situation when you walk in. (With out our father knowing) That way they can seat you out of the way of others so as not to cause problems with other diners. The mess on the table probably is not that big of deal, they get that all the time with kids. The mess on the floor might be an issue. But, Tip them well for taking care of you. Good Luck. Don't stop taking your father to restaurants if that's what he enjoys! When they are gone , you'll wish you had the chance for the one last meal out. Speaking from experience.

Answer 1I believe it's not fair to the restaurant to do that, but futhermore it's not fair to your father. Just because he's old and perhaps can't help himself doesn't mean that he should be put in a situation to be humiliated publicly.
Answer 2Try to contain the mess as much as possible, and clean up what you can before you leave. Be sure and tip your server well. You'll eventually find that some restaurants are more understanding than others. Don't bother going back to the places that aren't.

Answer 5You are a blessing to bring your Dad out to eat. They clean up for children, I am sure they do not mind cleaning up for someone that was enjoying being out for a meal.
