Safety : Car Breaks Down On The Side Of The Expressway You Have No Cellphone What Do You Do
Girl's car breaks down because it overheats but she knows from experience if she lets it cool it will start again. It's summer. No cellphone. You are 2 miles from an exit where there is a gas station. Would you walk to the gas station? Would you take a ride to gas station? Would you wait for the police? If the police don't show in say over an hour, what then? If the car does not start what then? You are sittting in the passenger side of your car pondering all this, you see the overpass road right behind where you pulled your car over, and also a farmhouse directly across the field from your car about 300 yards? If you left car to walk wherever, what would you take, what would you leave? Would you walk or take a ride if push comes to shove, your car has not started and the police have not arrived? What's the first thing you would do once you got to a phone? ~~~ socer36 ~~~
Best Answer To Safety Question
First of all--take care of the car--do the maintenace and it probably will not breakdown---but if it does---Get the car completely OFF the road and hang a rag on the car somehow--the 4 ways should be on--if it seems safe enough to sit in the car...if not--get away from the car--to the rear--not the front--flying parts will get you if it gets hit.--SO wait for a patrolman--if there is no help and a house seems safe to get to--try it. If a stranger does stop--keep your pocketbook or valuables out of sight---preferrably in the trunk--do not allow the stranger access to your keys--he could take off with the house keys and God knows what else. Keep the other keys separate. NEVER say you have no phone--say anything but that. Say you have no number for help--or the signal was a little weak--maybe he will try his phone if he is a good guy. be alert and if it gets bad--the guy is like anyother person--go for the eyes or punch the throat--very easy to disable him. Wave like crazy and run away--no need to stay with the car. If you smoke--light a cigarette when a stranger stops--if he gets bad--put it out in his face--that is another way to stop him--then wave and run. When you do get a phone--call the police--try 911 in America--other parts of the world--call the number they use there. If the stranger does stop--immediately get the license plate number and a description of the car--no front plate?? Pretend a piece of paper blew away and chase it to the back of his car and get the plate. Please do not try to use a club or a weapon--he will take it away and use it on you--strike at the eyes and throat with your hands if it goes really bad.

Answer 1You spent more time asking the question than it would have taken to walk the 2 miles for help.

Answer 3First take care of the car. Then walk to the gas station.
Answer 4Stop playing "what if". What are you, 5 years old?
Answer 5if you have no cellphone, expressways is equipped with public phones for emergency use place beside the road. you should have seen the logo of the phone. then call whoever you think can help you. some drivers will help you if you will try to stop them by waving a white hanky. i think every car has an emergency fireball stick to light if you need help over the expressway (or is this only available in our country)? when a passerby will see this, they may try to help you or call the police instead to come to you (probably our system here). and the last resort, either you have to walk by yourself to the gas station (which i doubt this would be impossible as drivers could spot the car empty along the road and would think of it suspiciously).
Answer 6There are call boxes on the road side. I would find one.
