there is no "Best" Anti-Virus. but if you want very good protection. I would recommend that you purchase Kaspersky /. (From a store like Future Shop, or Staples. So you have the physical copy of the program). From what I have heard about it. It seems to be one of the best protection programs out there. Here's some free Anti-virus programs, that I use myself, they are very effective. 1 Ad-Aware 2008, Much more effective than previous versions and faster, does not suck up system resources like the previous versions, also there various skins to suit your preferences. ?hhTest=1 2 Spybot - Search Destroy, its a little out of date but it works. ?hhTest=1 3 SpywareBlaster, blocks potentially damaging applications and programs from running. ?hhTest=1 4 Simple File Shredder, it isn't an anti spy, but it shreds unnecessary files including cookies and it speeds up system performance. ?hhTest=1 5 MRU-Blaster, detects and cleans MRU (most recently used) lists on your computer. By looking at these MRU lists, someone could determine what files you opened/saved/looked at, what their file names were, and much more! As it is not hard for a cracker to hack it, and insert some malicious code into the program which after scanning will give you even more virus's. I'm happy to tell you that there an excellent alternative that works !!! I like this FREE tool that does an EXCELLENT job. Avast free Home Edition Get it here: /eng/avast_4_... And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan. When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quaranteen). Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free. You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free. Note: I KNOW of several people who have used AVG and gotten a virus anyway. Don't go with Zone Alarm as it is hoggy and conflicting. I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with DEPENDABLE AVAST for the last 5 years. The corporation I work for uses the Pro version, and has never has an incident. Avast is your answer. ^j^
