It sounds like you should use the Format Painter. Select the cell that has the Format (color, font, etc.) that you want to copy and then click the Format Painter on your tool bar. (It looks like a little paintbrush.) Then click on the cell that you want to copy the format to. I'm not sure from your question, but it almost sounds like the colored cell may be changing color and the other cell needs to be automatically updated. If this is the case, I would use Conditional Formatting instead. Let me know if you need more help.

You need to write a macro. Format your cell with its colour, select it - Give it a name, in top left box where the cell name is - select the cells/column/row you want to update - give them a name. Go to Tools - Macros - Record Macro. Press F5 (go to) select the name from the drop down list or type it in - click OK - Copy - Click F5 go to the second named cell/row/column as before - Paste. Close name and save Macro Set it to run automatically. Hope it works. its a long time since I did it!

Answer 3

Right click the 'sheet' tab at the bottom of the screen. Click 'View Code' Paste the following code into the screen you get ----------------- Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) = False Cells(1, 1) Cells(2, 1).PasteSpecial Paste:=xlFormats = True End Sub ----------------- What this code basicly does, is it tells Excel that everytime there is a selection change it should copy the format from A1 "Cells(1, 1) You can adapt this code as you see fit.

Answer 4

try edit/copy/paste special/format
