I am planning to marry my Tunisian boyfriend this year in Tunisia and have been told by some that I need a certificate of no impediment to marriage and told by others that I don't. Also I have phoned my local registry office regarding a certificate of no impediment to marriage and have been told that this document needs the date time and venue of the wedding as it will be invalid - but this seems odd - can anyone help??? ~~~ Tasha G ~~~

Certificate of no impediment to marriage. For British citizens this is issued by the Consular Section of this Embassy. To apply for this you need to: * Be 18 years of age or have the written consent of your father (or other person whose consent is required by the law); * Have resided at least 21 clear days in Tunisia; * Show evidence that any previous marriage has ended (spousea€™s death certificate or divorce decree); then * Give notice of your intended marriage, by calling in person at the Consular Section and signing appropriate forms. The consular officer taking this notice will post it on the public notice board for a further 21 clear days. Answer 2i think even if you are 18 or older, a woman still needs a father's consent. i did and i was 20. oh and get everything translated and give yourselves lots of time to get everything together. congrats.
