Is the North of England colder in the Winter than anywhere else in England? And how does it compare in Summer? I am doing some kind of project so plz could you help I would also like to know if its windy with lots of rain. cheers ~~~ Andy T ~~~

In northern England The climate is :- Cool in Winter (7 degrees C Mean) Warm in Summer (20 degrees C mean) Precipitation at all seasons. (approx. 30 ins per year). For the latitude of northern England. Winters are very warm at approx. 5 degrees C. compared to other places at the same latitude. However, on the high moors of northern England (Pennines , Lake District) Winters are colder and wetter. Wind speed is often higher too., compared to the lower regions of Northern England. What people casually call 'cold' is really, raw damp weather, with a strong wind, but the temperature is above freezing point. It is this raw damp weather that visitors to the region cannot cope with, feeling cold all the time. Old weather lore:- January - As the days lengthen so the cold strengthens. February - Fill dyke 'If Candlemas (Feb 2nd) be fair and bright, Winter will have another flight, but if Candlemas be cloud and rain winter will not come again'. March - Dry good rye, a peck of dust is worth a king's ransom. It should wake the adder and bloom the whin. April - showers bring forth May - flowers. Lord Byron, the poet wrote, " The English Winter ending in July to recommence in August", and that was in 1814.
